The Dreaded Surf Gator

Thought to be approximately 9 feet tall and bipedal the infamous Surf Gator has recently awakened from his 100 years of slumber.  A series of calls from local beach residents in New Hanover County to The Belville Bugle confirms what local cryptozoologists believe to be a creature that is or resembles the Surf Gator.

The last sighting of this creature is historically considered to be April 13, 1912.  Soon after that date news outlets would be primarily occupied by the Titanic incident that occurred on April 14-15, 1912.  Scholars believe that more sightings occurred but may have not been reported in newspapers due to space being reserved for the ship's iceberg accident.

Print evidence suggests that 13 years of terror preceded the final sightings in 1912.  The first sighting is thought to have been reported by an elderly gentleman in 1899.  The gentleman described that one night he viewed a tall man-like creature emerging from the water near his beach residence.  The elderly man went on to report that he hid in the attic of his house and peeped out a small vent to see the creature safely.  Local newspapers reported that the man saw what seemed to be a bluish green alligator walking on land like a man for approximately 13 minutes before returning to the ocean.
